I remember watching an old B&W film of the 1930's or 40's in which to small boys found a baby in a barn and the younger boy sai to the older boy "I didn't know you could find babies Harry". The boys were acussed of stealing this baby and had to go to Court. In protest their father walked to or from Court in barefeet. The actor who played their father was a well known actor and usually played stern types.

Please help as I would like to trace this old family film for my 85 year old mum.

Sounds like The Kidnappers (1953) aka "The Little Kidnappers".
PLOT:Forbidden by their grandfather to have a dog, Harry and Davy "kidnap" an unattended baby and care for the child in a lean-to shack. When found, the baby proves to be the child of MacKenzie's most-bitter Dutch enemy and the little boys are charged with kidnapping.
