My mom wants an alternative to cymbalta
Hi, cymbalta is an anti depressent drug, she really wants to go off it but she is scared to without doctors orders, she is looking for something that would be as strong as that or that could help her, I guess? She has tried st. johns wort, should I try sam E? Would this work?? Is there anything else that could be close to cymbalta? Thanks for reading!

If her dr put her on something than her dr needs to be kept in the loop if she goes off it and begins taking something else. If she's not happy with the medicine she's currently on she should be going back to the dr for solutions. And if that dr doesn't' want to work with her to figure out what's best for her then its time for a new dr.

Yes her doctor will have to moniter and wean her off any meds. With anti depressants taking the natural with the meds will amplify them like taking an over dose because they are both working to do the same thing.
She could also get an alternatives dr to help too. He would best know what would be good for her to take.
Also her doctor may be able to suggest CAM therapy if he isn't against alternatives.

Some doctors are just totally against anything but prescription meds.
I am trying to get my mom to switch doctors because hers is even anti green tea.

Wow. A dr even against green tea is frightening. I don't always agree that alternative medicine is the best but there certainly are times that it seems to be better. And if a prescription med isn't working out for someone I don't see anything wrong with giving alternative meds a try,a s long as there's a dr supervising everything.
