    Marrying a Permanent Resident
My financee is currently being filed for as a permanent resident. However, when his application is approved, I would like to know how long after entering the US will he be able to return and get married to me? We currently live in Jamaica, West Indies. Also after marriage how will I be able to live with him in the US.

What is the basis for his PR? If employment-based, and you are married to him now, then you can apply for PR with him.

If it is family-based, it is most likely that he must get his PR then petition for you, as an FB-2A. The dates they are now issuing visas have a PD of 01/15/2005. Remember, he is eligible to apply for citizenship after 4 years 9 months. When he swears in as a USC, you are an IR and can file for the IV immediately.

File early, as soon as possible. Good luck.
