    Pets and apartments
We moved into this apartment complex about 4 months ago. We were honest about what kind of dog we have she is a small boxer. We paid the deposit that they wanted. The problem is now they say she is too big. They have known a along what kind of dog we have. She has never caused damage and she is very sweet. They want to give us a 3 day notice to move. We don't have the money right now to pay for another apartment. What can we do?

Is your present dog listed in the lease and did you pay a pet deposit?

    Hello G:

They can't change the rules in the middle of the game. If they give you a 3 day notice, it's just a preliminary notice that they have to give you before they EVICT you in court...

Don't worry. Court is where you WANT to be, because the landlord will be told the same thing...

What you didn't mention is what kind of lease you have. If you have NO lease, you're a month to month tenant, and they can give you a 30 day written notice that WILL be legal.

If you have a longer term lease, you're cool - until it ends.
