Smoking after signing would not do so in rental
I just inherited my Mother's home. Both my parents died from effects of smoking or the smoking environment and I have some sort of allergy that acts up when I am in her home and cannot breathe properly so I required my tenants not to smoke in the house. They agreed and initialed two paragraphs stating they would not do so. Now they are moved in and a friend rode by and there in the living room with window not closed, there was the guy smoking up a storm. My rental agreement was hand written, she initialed all the paragraphs, we talked about the problem and then she signed it. I even again warned her by phone when I had moved out and she was moving in.

Is there anything in Tennessee law that states I have to allow them to smoke? I mean this is blatant disregard and it is only one week into the rental time!!

    Thanks for any help.

If it is in the rental agreement, they are in violaton, and can be evicted from the house for the offense.
