Normally I wouldn't ask and just go to my vet but as some of you know, money is tight right now.

Dora my 2 year old Dwarf Lop has had a sore eye for 2 days now.

Yesterday the front corner of one eye was a little bit red and today there is what appears to be a blob of pus or yellow fluid in the corner.

I'm really worried.

I bought some chips for bedding about 5 days ago they are pine and made for bunnies.
I started using clumping cat litter about a month or so ago (Which she rolls on her back in)

Do you think she might be having a problem with the chips or does it sound like something else?

Should I remove the chips right now?
I have 2 other rabbits and they are both fine.

I will go to the vet is I need to but trying to avoid it :o

Edit: I can't touch it either because she goes completely mental.

Normally, I would just say go to the vet but since you said your on a low budget I won't mention the vet.

The new chips you have could be the problem but It also could be something else she's allergic to.

I just wish I could wash it out.

I have tried wrapping her in a towel so she can't scratch but she still wiggles free.
It must really hurt poor thing :(

Try getting someone to hold her still while you was her eye.

That's my next step.
I'm home alone at the moment.

Just cleaned all the chips out (she had a box with chips in it)
She used to have hay as bedding when she was outside but since she has been inside she had been weeing on it which did not smell nice at all!

I will give an update when my other half gets home!

Cheerful, Tearful (Eye Problems)

I'm going to guess and my guess is the same as Joy's, it sounds like the new wood chips. Not all places treat the chips so they can safely be used with rabbits. Wood produces lots of particles, it possible some of it got into Dora's eye and is irritating it.

Use a warm cloth. Don't rub, just hold the cloth on her eye. The heat will make her eye tear and hopefully dislodge whatever is in her eye, if that's the problem.

Tea bags also help. :)

I took them out and I got vaughn to wrap her in a towel and hold on to her while I washed it out (just a damp cloth)
It was just a blob of gunk.
They don't seem to be weeping anymore, just a bit red in the front corner.

The redness will go down in a few days. Just keep an "eye" on it. ;)

Boric acid is used for humans and it might help. Should be available without a prescription. boric acid medical facts from Drugs.com

It's probably the pine chips. Her eye will eventually get better, but for safety reasons, 1 don't touch her eye, 2 maybe you should get someone to hold her while you wash it out and 3 just pet her on the back to show her that you care she has a sore eye
