Connecting a DVD/VCR Combo to TV and surround sound receiver
    I have a Toshiba 42' HDTV and a Toshiba DVD/VCR Combo.
    Both have HDMI connections.
My Pioneer Dolby receiver is an older model with no HDMI connection.
I am on "DISH" network using a satellite as my source for the TV signal.
Can you tell me what cables I need and the proper way to connect it all together.

    Hi,
My stereo amplifier is probably older (at 30) and all that is required are left and right cables with RCA connectors on the ends. Understand that this is not surround unless the receiver is; lots of older Pioneers have a Surround button that will simulate surround if two pairs of speakers are attached. True surround will have those 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 designations. That is read "five dot one" by the way. The "one" is the subwoofer which is considered omni-directional and not particularly subject to spatial effects.
    Peace,
    Clarke
