    Consult for breast cancer
    Helo sir,
Well, two days back we came to know as my Auntie is suffering from breast cancer and it is at 3rd stage of the disease. She is 60+ yrs. Doctor had suggested to have chemotherapy but the finally we would have to remove the affected part. For chemotherapy doctor suggested us PORT INSERTION OPERATION Is there any other option or treatment so that we could avoid the detachment of the body part. And please explain the treatment you recommend in detail.please reply soon as we don't hv much time in hand because its already too late for the treatment.
    Thanks
    Mani

I am a breast cancer survivor myself, and I chose to have both breasts removed. At stage 3, mastectomy is the best option, along with chemotherapy. The port is inserted so that she can receive her chemo through it rather than getting stuck with needles each time she gets her chemo.

By detachment of the body part I assume you mean removing the breast. Radiation is an option, but it has such serious side effects and is not necessarily a guarantee. She can have the breast removed and have reconstructive surgery to have implants placed so it still looks like she has breasts.

Most people would get a mastectomy or lumpectomy, I'm not sure about being in the 3rd stage. You can get a second opinion by another doctor.
