I always wash my vagina and urinate after sex not only for hygienic reasons but also to prevent a urinary tract infection for example. But my boyfriend doesn't believe in washing his penis after sex. What is the proper hygiene after natural intercourse (without condoms)?

I think that it's good to wipe yourself at least! I always have a pee and wipe myself, for the same reasons you do.

Why don't you make it part of the after sex fun to go into the bathroom and wipe yourselves with a warm wet face washer?

This is going to sound nasty but well anyway...

After sex, even after "him" ejaculating in me, I'd just wipe myself off and sleep. Gross but meh didn't effect me. I of course took a shower the next morning ;)

I knew of girls who would immediately get a wet wipe or run to the bathroom and scrub themselves off-- umm well I think that kind of kills the mood.

If it's so important to "be clean" then take the lovemaking to the shower- it's clean dirty fun :)

It is mostly a matter of personal "taste" as to whether you wash immediately after sex, however,
The female lubricant is somewhat antibacterial but I think that the abrasions that can occur to the vulva/vagina during sex would be better off washed with a warm face washer to prevent infections to one or both partners and to urinate after sex is good hygiene for both sexes.

What about immediately leaving the bedroom to wash after each time one has sex? My ex used to do that. If we made love a few times in a night he'd get up each time to wash. Not sure how I felt about that?

Is there a proper way? Other than a girl urinating after intercourse to help prevent a UTI I have never heard of advice on this. Kind of an interesting topic. I'll throw my 2 cents in!

I think a lot of people have moral or hygienic standards they prefer for themselves and their partners. Same as a person who trims their regions and a person who chooses not to. I personally am not bothered by my husband not cleaning off after intercourse. Generally I grab a towel while I am up cleaning myself off and toss it to him. That's good enough for us.

The choice can, I suppose, also depend on how much fluid there is afterward. Some people leave big wet spots and some people have no issue. I suppose it then becomes an issue the couple work through together. If you think he should clean his penis after intercourse. Get some wet wipes and pop them next to the bed. He probably won't mind as long as he doesn't have to do much more than laugh and grunt afterward. :D

As a male I must confess to being converted to the "wash after" crowd. My conversion came the morning after not washing to find uncomfortable hairs glued together. :eek:

Showering good should be enough for the most part.
If you are saying that you are douching every time that can be bad because you lose good bacteria that your body needs as well

When my husband and I first got together we were both still drinking as much alcohol as possible. We never, ever washed afterwards. Then came the 10-day camping trip, need I say more?

Now we almost always go into the bathroom together afterwards and we get in the shower. A detachable shower head is indispensable. It isn't a break in the romance to wash, just part of the process.

Women usually have to pee after sex and after a number 2. Nature knows best.

A bidet would be perfect. Too bad they are considered a luxury item in the USA.

Lol. I used to do like gemini and simply whipe a bit with a nearby towel and then go to bed.

However like you, after a few times of waking up essentially 'glued shut' I became a 'dasher' after sex I would jump out of bed and run to the bathroom, sit on the toilet right away and COMPLETELY clean myself :P
