Help in removing Moen 1224 cartridge. Seems to be stuck.

This is a two handle cartridge correct? Take two sharp knives and pry them under two opposite sides of the cartridge(between where the plastic cartridge meets the metal fuacet body) then just pry it up with the blades. Once it gets up about an 1/8 to a quarter inch, grab it with a pair of pliers and twist and pull. Please let me know if you get it out. Lee
