Keeping green card or should I give it up ?
Hi. Im an Australian and had a green card through marriage but was out of the US for just over 2 years without a reentry permit after I separated from my husand. I returned 2 weeks ago and a defered inspection yesterday was arranged at samsome street where I chose to have a hearing sometime in the next few months to try to prove to judge that I had significant ties to the US. I have an investment house, credit cards, I kept my CA real estate licence valid and a US husband who I am consiling with and he filed joint US taxes for us this year.. Im going back to australia in a few weeks due to family illness and will return again for the hearing. What are my chances? THanks..

I had to hand in my green card, allowing me to work in the US, when I returned permanently to Canada. I don't think you will have an option but to relinquish it. I may be wrong in your case, but I don't think so.
