    Menopause or imbalance
OK so I have a question in regards to my mom that worries me. OK so four years ago she had my sister and about a year later she had her tubes cut. After that she never got a regular period again but only some spotting every once a year. We thought it was her menopause, but just yesterday she had a horrible headache all night and woke up with swollen hands and eyelids. Later that day when she wiped she noticed a mucusy bloody like coagule. What can that be? She is 41 years old. I was thinking it couldve meant that she was supposed to have her period? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Having your tubes tied shouldn't mean that periods will stop. Usually when the tubes are tied, the uterus continues to do its thing until such times as it's ready to stop.

Also, late 30's early 40's is unusually early for menopause.

Why hasn't your mother seen her doctor about this? There are tests that can be done to test hormone levels and also ultrasounds can be done to check what's happening in the uterus. It may be that she also needs to have a pap smear.

I'd suggest she see a doctor ASAP, any unusual vaginal bleeding should be checked out without delay!
