    Removal of sink faucet stem
The hot water faucet leaks and I want to replace the seat washer. I have taken the faucet apart through unscrewing the packing nut. I cannot remove the stem. I have rotated it in both directions but it will not come out. Suggestions? Thanks

Can you get ahold of it and while pulling on it gently also wiggle it from side to side?
You might try some kind of lubricant to see if that helps.

Then you need a handle puller, (see image) Pickone up at your Plumbing Supply House. Good luck, Tom

Sorry, Is this a stem and washer faucet? (see image) ? Why can't you simply back it out counterclockwise? I could use more information. I have no idea what you're dealing with here. Regards, tom

No, it is a compression faucet; hot and cold handles, single faucet. The hot water leaks from the faucet. I have removed everything from the hot water side through through the stem nut, but cannot remove the stem to get at the washer

Can you post a pic of your stem? Sometimes there is a packing nut that secures into a larger nut that holds the stem in. If there is another nut below the packing nut, remove it and the stem should come out. A pic would help us determine this. Please let us know what you find. Good luck. Lee

If that sucker's stuck that badly, about the only thing to do is either continue to try removing the stem and possibly damage the manifold/valve body, or simply replace the manifold/valve body with one that is more easily serviced.
