Do I really need to replace the wax seal?
I accidentally flushed the head of my electric razor down the toilet this morning. I want to take off the toilet to see if the head made it all the way down into the sewer drain or if it is stuck somewhere in the toilet. Since the wax seal is not bad, do I need to replace it when I take off the toilet or can I just remove the toilet and put it back on?

No second life for the wax ring, replace it, they are only $3. It is not worth taking a chance to save $3, no plumber would do it and I certainly would replace if I were doing the job. BTW, the shaver is in the esat river by now, don't do anything unless you start having a clog. Remington is doing a back stroke.

I'll second that... the seal is cheap... the damage from a leak will be expensive.

    Hi all:

Replace the wax gasket as mentioned. It will also be a good idea to get a new set of closet bolts as the old ones probably got cut down so the bolts could be capped off. Generally speaking, these bolts are hard to reuse. These are also cheap... about $1.50... ;)

All experts gave you excellent advices especially Mark to replace the bolts, I just replaced wax and the bolts on one of my toilets two days ago cost me $7.85 no more, good luck.

FYI: In many cases, wax ring is sold with bolts included with the wax ring. Otherwise, agree with Experts above...
