    Is this a good connection?
We have cricket wireless with a USB wireless card.

    It connects at 230.4 Kbps

Is this good? Because it runs really slow and disconnects a lot. (infact I keep getting disconnected as I am trying to post this lol)

Mine is roughly 100 KBps and works fine for me... it's wired though.

Btw, what connection speed do you have Ben?

I'm running slow at the moment with 11426 kbps which is approx 11 Mbps ;)

Not bad for ADSL2+ and over a mile from the exchange.

You call that slow! That's awsome!! I wonder when I'll have such type of connection... Thanks Ben!

The connection is rated "upto" 24 Mbps, but drops off a lot with distance from the exchange.
Also as my telephone wires are on poles, the weather has quite an effect on noise on the line.
    Normally I get 10-15 Mbps..

The max speed we can get in Mauritius is 1,024Kbps, but of course, it comes in more costly. Sometimes I wonder why Mauritius is not as developed as your country...

    Dont treadonme

It's great... IF it is totally FREE

    Otherwise that really sucks

I get more speed from my mobile phone

It might also be great if you live in a war torn third world country

For one, Mauritius is not considered to be a Third World country, but a developing one. Second, in this business world, nothing is free, except if you hack, but then, that's against the law. The big downturn then will be harsh if you get caught red handed.

I get about 6mbps at home... which is what my ISP throttles me at, lol. They have this 'speedboost' thing which basically bursts your bandwidth to about 10 or 11mbps for the first 30 seconds or so of the connection. Great for small downloads and page load times.

Ooooh OK, where do I find the normal internet connection?

Here's a good site to test your internet connection speed: Speakeasy - Speed Test

    Just select the nearest city.

Oooops just noticed it USA only.
    Hmmmmm

This ones for Ozzie: Speed Test on ZDNet Australia

    Thanks Ben!

    According to that it is:

    1,275 kbps.
    So only 1.2 mbps.

Bear in mind that's your connection to their servers, so you're more likely on a 2+mbps connection.

Cool, that's not to shabby... well it is, but it's fast enough for what I do!
