How do you classify the following reaction under acid-base, precipitation or gas formation reactions?
a) LiOH(aq) + HI (aq)
b) HCLO3 + NaOH (aq)
c) FeCl2 (aq) + K2SO4 (aq)
Is the answer to "b" an acid base reaction?
a) You can see the 'OH' and 'H' in the reactants. Therefore, what do you deduce? (LiOH has similar properties as NaOH and HI can be said to have the same properties as HCl)
b) Correct.
c) I don't really know that reaction. But it seems to me that there will be no gas given off. FeCl2 is a salt, as well as K2SO4, and there will be no reaction. There are no precipitates as FeSO4 is soluble, as well as KCl.
