Diet for a healthy breastfeeding mom | BabyCenter

This should help you figure out what to eat and what to avoid hon :)
A good rule of thumb, if its healthy, its generally good.

Also, a heads up, you will want to get lanolin ointment, and you will want nursing pads. I thought I could do without these two. I couldn't :P

Just to add to what jenniepepsi wrote... remember not to compare your breastfed baby to a friend's formula fed baby. They will eat more frequently in the beginning... this is to help with establishing milk supply as well as helping you get comfortable with what you are doing. You will feel as though you are wearing your baby the first couple of weeks... it is normal and to be expected. They will gain weight differently as well... and their sleep patterns won't be the same for awhile.

The key is supply and demand... when you see hunger cues, well before crying, put baby to the breast. Frequency, in addition to how you take care of yourself, builds supply.
