    Deductions made for child support from emplyee
    Are we allowed to charge an employee a certain amount for writing out, making the child support deductions, keeping the records, paying the person to do this. Not sure if our company can make a deduction as it was court ordered for deductions to be made from his paychecks as he never paid on his own.
    It cost us time to adjust in payroll, make copies of necessary papers, postage and the cost of the check.
    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    You will need to check the actual garnishment order, often they allow 2 or 3 dollars for a fee.

    But to be honest, this is a minor cost, esp since most payroll is done on computer

    My state allows a $1 charge to be levied for administrative costs such as what you're speaking of. Check with the agency that collects and distributes child support in your state.

    I know in Florida and Ohio there is no charge applicable for this time consuming and labor intensive service that an employer must perform for the employee. The Child Support Agency charges the employee, but the employer can't. Does not seem fair.
