Any professional advice will be appreciated because I don't know were to start!!

About a year ago I placed my then 6 month old son up for adoption. I was in a unhealthy relationship and had a lot of pressure from a close family member. I wasn't a unfit parent. I was mentally, emotionally & financially able to take care of my son. I thought at the time I was doing the right thing but has since then on a daily basis regretted my decision. I was told after relinquishing your rights you can't get your child back. The adoption has since been finalized. Does anyone have any information or know anything about this. PLEASE HELP!! It will be greatly appreciated.

A. Yes after relinquishing your rights you can not turn back

B, Even if things had not gotten as far as adoption once you gave him up you most likely would not get him back anyway because the court looks at it like you choose the boyfriend over the child instead of looking for alternatives for 'the best interest of you kid'... such as kicking boyfriend out and getting a Protection order or moving or going to a shelter.

All you can do is see if you can keep in touch with him phone calls, letters, visits, presents,
And through the years tell him you regret it and let him know you do love him.
If the courts or the adoptive parents are cooperative they might let you have some contact with him but being so young they probably won't but it is worth asking.

When he is 18 he has the freedom to develop a relationship with mom if he wants to.
If you are not allowed any contact then at 18 you have to see if he is willing to contact you

In Texas a termination of Parental rights is complete, final and irrevocable. Giving up a child for adoption should be given careful and thorough consideration of all the ramifications.

You can consult an attorney to see if there is anyway to overturn the adoption, but the likely answer is no.

Adoptions are final. Was it an open adoption? If so the parents may be willing to allow you to have a relationship with him to a certain extent and of course when he is 18 he is free to choose if he wants to develop a relationship with you. If it was not an open adoption then chances are you don't even know who the parents are and you are not entitled to that information (unless the parents allowed that information).

Like the others have said... the adoption is final. Unless you can PROVE coercion, you are pretty much out of luck. Sorry.

You could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to fight it and still lose. Best to spend the money on the necessary counseling, imo.
