I know that at my apartment, the landlord has to give you notice that they are entering. They do have a key, but need my permission to enter. But again, that's here. We need to know where you are located to give you the proper advise.

Mmm in that case, it would all depend on what type of resident you are. Are you paying the owner rent? Or are you staying as a friend? Is there a lease involved or any type of agreement?

NO. He CANNOT enter your room WITHOUT reasonable notice. He is trespassing. I'd inform him of it TWO ways. Tell him that if he goes into your room again you will call the cops, and then send him a certified letter saying the SAME thing.

No if you "rent" a room in a private home, that room is "yours" and they may not enter it without your permission. In fact if the police were to search their home, they could not even give permission for the police to enter ( in most places).

Personally, I find violating your privacy to be extreme. In fact, telling your landlord NOT to, seems quite reasonable to me. Furthermore, I don't equate your rights with how much you pay. If you paid NOTHING, he would't be able to enter your room.

But, that's just me.
