    Apt in private house-my rights
My landlord put in new windows and I can only open them up 2 inches before these new
Flimsy plastic locks come out. It's a hot apt. If I leave my cats home and go away for
Many hours, I open the window wider so they can sit in their window seat and also, so
They don't get hot. My landlord comes in and closes my windows. Does he have the
Right to come in any time he wants to?

P.S. to question: the screen is always down.
My cats can't get out but you can open screen from the outside and I'm on the ground floor.
This is a private house and I have my own
    Apt and entrance

    Where are you?

I know that at my apartment, the landlord has to give you notice that they are entering. They do have a key, but need my permission to enter. But again, that's here. We need to know where you are located to give you the proper advise.

Mmm in that case, it would all depend on what type of resident you are. Are you paying the owner rent? Or are you staying as a friend? Is there a lease involved or any type of agreement?

    Hello J:

NO. He CANNOT enter your room WITHOUT reasonable notice. He is trespassing. I'd inform him of it TWO ways. Tell him that if he goes into your room again you will call the cops, and then send him a certified letter saying the SAME thing.

    Stupid landlords.

No if you "rent" a room in a private home, that room is "yours" and they may not enter it without your permission. In fact if the police were to search their home, they could not even give permission for the police to enter ( in most places).

As for the window, is the location air conditioned,

    Hello again, j:

jammie232 agrees: Prob accurate: a bit too extreme.. I pay low rent!

Personally, I find violating your privacy to be extreme. In fact, telling your landlord NOT to, seems quite reasonable to me. Furthermore, I don't equate your rights with how much you pay. If you paid NOTHING, he would't be able to enter your room.

    But, that's just me.
