    Washer drain backing up
    Just installed new washer and drain and its backing up out top of tube is it my drain or washer?

    It could be a little of both. The new washers,( especially Maytag) have more powerful pumps that can over power the drainage system especially if the washer trap and stand pipe's only 1 1/2 inches. The solution to this problem, ( and I have the same problem as you) would be to purchase a compression fitting, (see image) and install it on your stand pipe. This make the drainage a closed system,(forcing the discharge out into the main) without backups nor damage to the washer. I've had one on mine for 5 years with no problems. Good luck, Tom
