    How do I lose weight
I am thinking of doing cheerleading and I needed to know what would be the right weight for a cheerleader and maybe even head cheerleader

I don tknow how much cheerleaders weigh, or even head cheerleaders but I am sure as soon as you start being one, you will lose weight.

It matters little how heavy cheerleaders are and matters more what the correct weight is for your height and build. If you are concerned about your weight you should go and see your GP (physician / doctor) and get his advice. If your weight is a problem he will no doubt refer you to a dietician. As far as weight loss goes, a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and an avoidance of processed food, combined with a good exercise routine really is the only way forward.:)

A 2000 calorie a day diet is healthy. If you have never dieted I do not recommend you start with calorie counting. Healthy weight loss is 2-3 pounds a month. But you need to keep in mind that at your age most of your weight is developmental. Because your body isn't fully mature yet it uses those fat stores when growing. Another thing to keep in mind is that you don't necessarily want to lose weight, especially if you are cheerleading, you want to focus on toning your body, making your muscles more flexible and strong. Pilates is a good start, its an exercise system that focuses on your muscles and toning. Running is also a very good way to tone your legs, but more than that, it's great for your cardiovascular system (cardio).

When you start working out you might actually gain a little weight before you lose it, muscle weighs more than fat, so as you start to get your body into a better shape for you, the first month or so this might be a bit of a shocker.

Having said that you need to make sure that you are trying to lose weight for the right reasons. Losing weight for other people isn't going to do much for yourself image. But changing your body for the positive is going to make you feel better about yourself. Good luck with cheerleading, pom poms are awesome!

I was told by my trainer it's healthy to lose 2-3 pounds a week. Is that what you meant?
