    Roomies boyfriend
I signed a one year joint lease with one of my friends on a two bed room apartment. I agreed to letting her boyfriend live with us as well as long as we split rent 3 ways. His name is not on the lease. Long story short he and I don't get along. I have no where else to go and I can't stand living in my house another minute. What legal actions do I have?

Were you actually allowed to have other people staying there? For me, my lease says if I have anyone stay for more than 14 consecutive days without clearing it with the landlord in advance, my lease can be automatically terminated (I don't remember the exact words but it's something along those lines of being over). What does your lease say?
And where are you? Laws vary typically vary from state to state.

I see nothing in my lease about that says I can't have other people living in the house that are not on the lease. I live in Bloomington IN.

    Hello P:

The fact is you're obligated for the lease term. The landlord can't change the lease. You can't change the lease, and your roomy can't change the lease. You won't even see your deposit back until the lease expires if you even see it then. At that time, you can have yourself removed from the renewal, if they decide to stay. You better hope they pay and take care of the place for you.
