    Troy Built Loose Drive Belt
I just started using my Troy Built Model 830 5.5 hp self-propelled mower and it works fine without a load; however, the belt is too loose to cut grass. I don't see any adjustment for taking the slack out of the belt. I bought this at Home Depot about two years ago, but just tried to use it when my rider fuel filter plugged. This mower is junk unless the belt can be tightened. H E L P!!

Manuals are available online at MTD Products Landing Page, but you nned he serial number to access. Provide the link to the manual and we should be able to help.

Something moves and or the belt has stretched. Go to Dayco - MarkIV - Automotive Worldwide Website and find the Dayco number for the belt, then go to a NAPA auto store. They will hook you hp. I have trouble finding the right link there.

On my Troy Built, you have to put the belt on, by removing the friction disk/pulley and then you have to set the clearance for the disk because the drive is variable speed. If the bushings are worn, then the belt won't drive on my mower.

This Troy Built Series # 830 is a new mower (never used); it doen't have a friction pulley and the bushing have not been used. However, the belt won't turn the wheels when there is a grass-cutting load! Maybe it was made in China?
