Help - I have a 30yr old Ritz Fan Co. ceiling fan that I need to rewire. Here's the components

Black, Red and White from actual motor
2-wire black and black capacitor
3-wire position swithc black, red, blue

Black house wire connected to remote control on wall. Probably resistive or inductive as it will dim the lights if connected to the light circuit

White commone wire

Red wire to wall switch for light kit.

I can get the lights to work and I can make the fan turn slowly in the wrong direction and I can use the remote to dim the lights (when connected incorrectly to the lights) - So I think everything is functional, just can't get the thing wired up right.

Don: Thanks for looking at this. I'm attaching 2 pictures, and I noticed there is another component, a dimmer switch I suppose with two wires hanging out of it. This wasn't connected before when the fan used to work. - Chris

I didn't take the picture or I would have separated the wires for clarity. There's a black cap with two black wires in the back, a dimmer knob on the left with two black wires tied together, a 3-way switch unwired on the right, 3 motor wires coming down the center in a jacket, and three house wires coming down to the left of the jacketed motor wires. Red, black white.

The dimmer knob on the fan, do you need to use it? Has it ever worked?

The 'dimmer knob' on the fan was connected and I disconnected it because I thought it wasn't needed. That's how I got into this mess. Last weekend I almost had it working by running the black hot from the wall control through the 'dimmer at the fan' and to the black lead of the motor. I ran the 2 wire cap from the hot to the white motor wire. I was close but gave up and bought a new fan. Would still like to get this wired if you have time. Thanks, - Chris

Do you have an Ohm meter? Otherwise I'll guess. I have one of these Ritz fans but it's packed away. Someone painted this one silver.

MUCH better quality fan than whatever you bought new. These things weigh like 40lbs.

Can u tell me how to change the capacitor of the fan?

Found this thread but it appears details on repair where never included. I have the same fan and believe it is wired incorrectly with one direction going through the start winding because it spins slower in on direction. I have an ohm meter. Can you help me to verify or repair it?
