    Direct tv/dvd/tv
I have direct TV and trying to hook up to dvd player. It is already hooked up to TV and I have tried many things. I can get as far as having the dvd player play fine, but the direct TV has picture but no sound. Where do I hook the RED WHITE and YELLOW plugs, from what to what. It seems the S cable stays from Direct TV box to TV, but I am having trouble. Also I will be hooking up a bunch of stuff on another TV. How do I hook up a DVD player, a VCR, a CD player, a EQUALIZER, and believe it or not maybe a TAPE player. Any suggestions.

One thing at a time. Yellow (composite video), red (Right audio), White ( Left)

RCA connector - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

S-vid is superior to composite video, so that's why you have picture.

Sound comes from the Red and White connectors. These must go to to the audio left/right inputs to the TV. See your TV manual on how to select this on your remote control.

The second problem is much harder:

The EQ probably cannot be accomidated unless a separate audio system is used.

Lets's assume your TV has HDMI inputs. You should buy a DVD player with that capability. The DVD player would also play audio CD's.

A tape player and VCR could be accommodated by using a selector switch such as this one: Composite Audio/Video Explorer Switch - Cables To Go

This assumes that your TV has a composite video input.

Not knowing what inputs/outputs your devices have, it's hard to guess.

I left out recording to the VCR. You need to inventory the comonents and provide the labels for the inputs and outputs for any of us to help further.
