I am trying to replace a Moen Model 1200 cartridge to fix a leak. However, I cannot get the old cartridge out. Any suggestions

YUP!

You did remove the clip... right? If not, remove the copper clip and then pull the cartridge out... ;)

If giving it a good yank or two won't do it then Lowe's or HOME DEPOT should have a MOEN CARTRIDGE PULLER... see image. You are not the first one to have trouble with this!

While picking the tool up pick up a little plumber's silicone grease as well and be sure to grease the orings on the new cartridge before installing.
