Mtd lawn tractor will not move forward
Hello,I just bought this used MTD yard machines
14.5/42 w/7 speed transmatic transaxel. The guy I got it from had replaced the "rearend"
In it due to damaged old rearend. I used it 1 time and had occasional difficulty getting it from forward to reverse or vice versa. I figured perhaps some adjustment of the shift lever was needed. Before I could finish my whole lawn I totally lost the ability to go forward.
I still have reverse(with some jiggling of the shift lever) 1 more important thing to mention is that when I bought it, we could not roll the tractor back or forward running or not. No neutral position. But, you could leave it run without it moving.
I would greatly appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction to where the problem lies. I have tried to be as descriptive as possible.
    Thank you for any help!!

    Hi,
If the shifter is in the center in front of the seat, remove the shift knob and the two screws that hold the cover in place.
Follow the shift lever over to the left to where there is a pinch bolt in the linkage to adjust neutral. I would guess the neutral may be out of adjustment since you still have reverse.
    Peace,
    Clarke

That was exactly the problem. Now I even have a neutral position.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post a solution
    (now I am at peace)
