    Perforated tooth
I had a root canal and temporary crown put on. The temporary crown broke off with my lower half in it. The Dentist planned on putting a post in my tooth so that the crown can grad onto it and hold the crown. In the process, the dentist perforated my tooth, place the temporary crown back on and sent me to an Endodontist to have it cemented & sealed so that a post can be placed on it. By looking at my x-ray, The Endodontist told me their was no hope for my tooth because it was too small and not enough root to hold a post so it's best if I have it extracted. I was sent home and now I feel some pressure and tenderness on the perforated tooth. What could this mean? Infection, Abscess? Due to the weekend, I need to wait another 2 days to go to an implant specialist. Help! If the root is dead then what kind of tenderness & pressure am I feeling in an unsealed perforated tooth w/ temporary crown?

You need to have it extracted. It's probably infected. They may not extract until infection is gone. An iplant can't happen until the bone grows back,

You probably need anti-biotics and need to see an oral surgeon ASAP.

The implant guy is usually two-fold; the oral surgeon places the post etc and the prostadontist/dentist does the restoration. It's a 9 month process for good gums.

I don't know if there is a procedure where a tooth is pulled and the abutment is placed at the same time.

I'd call my dentist's emergency line, if I were you. It might be an abscess, and they can be very painful. It might be something else, but I wouldn't want to spend the night in pain.

The root should be removed and an implant placed. The implant can probably be placed right away but you will have to wait 4-6 months before the crown is placed. Definitely get it out of there as soon as you can.
