My 17 year old daughter has an emotional problem, she has always been very attached to me , however for a while she has these spells that she tells me she hates me, she makes straight a's in school, but says she hates school.
I have had her to dr's psychologist, and family dr/ but she tells me she will tell them what they want to hear.
I wonder if there is some kind of neurological problem?? It is very odd. And I am at my wits end please someone help!!

Any psychologist or counselor worth his/her salt knows how to interpret a client's words and recognizes and knows how to cut through lies, etc. She will not be able to bamboozle them. She needs to vent.

I got straight a's and I always hated school. That part seems pretty normal. A lot of my friends were like that too. I doubt she really hates you, even when she says she does. She's probably just upset about something else and taking it out on you. Hopefully with counseling she can learn to communicate that though instead of taking it out on you. I used to swear even if I had to go to counseling I wasn't going to talk to them or tell them anything. And now look, I'm recommending it because it helped me so much! Ha

Sounds like a typical teenager to me.

Get her to counselling but to cut the chances of her painting a rosy picture or bad mouthing you set it up before hand that you have some sessions, she has some sessions, you both have sessions together. It could even be something like 10 minutes each each session.
Also discuss a topic or stick with whatever her rant to the therapist happens to be that day.

Can you describe her behaviour? What is it about her behaviour other than she is very attached to you, and sometimes has times where she says she hates you.

That doesn't sound to me like anything to be worried about.

Can you elaborate?

She throws tantrums for no reason,
I probably spoil her, but she is so unappreciative, it's almost like split personalities.

How do you spoil her?

Quit spoiling her and put your foot down.
How do you spoil her?
Does she demand things if you don't give them to her?

Enough with the problems. Psychology problems, people always want to look at this to explain behavior.

She is a 17 year old teenager with hormones changing and everything else. It sounds like normal behavior.

Had to spread the rep, but I agree.

I don't see what has required a psychiatrist- at least not without a lot more information.

Yeah they don't need a psychiatrist but a counselor that can help them learn how to communicate better.
