    New dog pooping in house
3 weeks ago we adopted an almost 2 year old intact male poodle X. He weighs 15 lbs. He has since been neutered and has become close with several family members. He came from a house with 8 dogs and I was told he was house trained. In the past 3 weeks, he has pooped in the house at night or when we are away almost every time. I understand that he is going through a transition period with a new home etc. I would like to know how to best handle this situation. He goes outside to pee and poo during the day and gets daily walks as well as periods of play. We do have another small dog and they get along well. At night they have the run of the house if they want but the new dog was used to sleeping on the bed and I do not allow that. Both dogs sleep on a bed just outside our bedroom door that has a gate in front of it. He does acknowledge that the humans are the boss and I do take away the food after he has dinner around 5 pm. What is the best way to handle this situation?

The best thing you can do is just go through the toilet training process with him.

Treat him like a puppy that has never been trained.
As you said it is a new house, new smells, new people, it will take him a while to get used to everything but he will eventually.

Thanks for the suggestions. At night, I have kept him contained to one area and take him out first thing in the morning. He gives a lttle cry, thank goodness I am a light sleepter! We have not left him alone for more that an hour or two during the day as well. This seems to be working... he has not pooped for 4 nights now... thanks again for the feedback.

Zippit, why are you posting a picture of your dog on someone else's thread?

You have over 100 posts, you know the rules by now, you've been chastised many times for not following the rules, do you want to be a part of this site or not?

I'm glad your dog is okay, but posting this info here, not okay at all.

    This is getting old. :(
