I have just had a new fibreglass in ground pool installed. I would like to tile around the pool with coping tiles but the curves have put me off. Can anyone please suggest a way to tile around the curves ,like how to cut the tiles to fit the curves? Appreciate any help. Thanks

What kind and size tile are you considering? Tile can be cut with the right tool.

Your best bet would be a mosaic-type tile that's mounted on sheets. That way you'll have the flexibility to work around the curves. Be sure to use an appropriate-type mortar and to prep the surface adequately. Fiberglass could be tricky.

I am using teracotta tiles and size is 12 x 12 (300mmx300mm)

You have a lot of things going againt you. Odd shapes and keeping the bit cool.

Best way I can think of is to rig a small adjustable water line like the nozzles used on milling machinesand lathes. See Industrial Supply Equipment from MSC Industrial Supply as a possible source.

Make a template out of wood and a jigsaw for the pattern you need.

Using a router, a diamond bit and cool water and the pattern, I think it can be done.

Remember to have an equipotential electrical grid installed beneith the tiles. Read the NEC as appropriate for swimming pools by following the sticky in the beginning of the electrical section. It may be best to have an electrician experienced in pool construction do the grid and have it inspected.

Are you talking about the face of the pool wall or a deck ring around the walking surface? If inside wall you won't get 12x12 to sit flat, post 3 gave you a better option.

It is the deck ring around the pool and thanks for all the advice,I have started with templates of curves with wood,to make patterns and looks Ok for a start.Will keep posted on progress.
