Solenoid Test for Briggs & Stratton engine
    Hi,

I have a 9hp Troy Bilt walk-behind mower with electric start that only clicks when I turn the key. I had the battery load-tested and it is fine. I took the solenoid to a local repair place and they tested the solenoid and said it was fine. But, after talking to a neighbor, he suggested "shorting" the two main post on the solenoid to see if it will start. I did this and it started! My question is was the repair place wrong? Is the solenoid bad?

Thx in advance for any answers.

    Yes... and no

There's a magnet in there that can get hung up and not all the time. The solenoid is bad>>>

Thanks for the help. I purchased a new solenoid this past weekend and now it starts right up!
