We live in a world where a kiss means nothing anymore, a long time ago, probably when my grandma was barely a little girl, a kiss was banned in a relationship until marriage; but look at us now, I dare you to go for a walk and count how many teenagers are “making out” on the streets. Sometimes, as a parent, I'd love to take my children into the 1840's and make them grow old there; when a young lad had to ask permission to the lady's parent to date her, and still, the dates weren't as the dates we know now days. The parent sat down in between the couple for hours, and they never touched, not even for a hug, and they felt completely happy! Try doing that with yours and watch them yelling at you for being a bad parent.
I am so scared of the truth, that when my son has his own children, their life will be nothing more than sex. Every movie we see at the movie theater has, at least, an erotic kiss or a make out; and those who don't have are empty. I remember watching a couple a few days ago, they weren't only making out; they were feeling themselves at the movie theater. A public place turned into a whore house; how disgusting is it to be near a few persons who are technically having sex; because they can fool children, but they can't fool me, a grown up. I had to leave the room and told someone to calm those teenagers inside; I don't really know what happened to them after that night, but what an example they are giving to our children.

Tell me if you think that we should make something to help it or is this new future somehow good.

Ooh trust me I understand. I have dreams about having enough money to do the whole 'the villiage' concept (the movie)

I know that you're pretty disgusted with the way society is becoming... and even at the "tender" age of 24... I am too. But this is the society that we live in... and our job now is to make the best of it. There's really not much we can do about the movies (except that we stop letting children watch these movies... but let's face it, they all now download even rated R movies left and right) or even porn, as our internet's saturated with it.

I'm scared to death of raising children in this world, because there are so many distractions that can lead them astray. The best you can do, is do the best as a parent, and have faith that your children will make the right choices.

To add, I have a 16 year old brother... and I am genuinely worried about his future. His friends (even the "good kids") drink after school, one of them was just arrested for stealing a laptop from best buy, and he actually has two friends who are pregnant IN HIS CLASS!. I have faith in my parents that they will lead him the right way... the rest is up to him.

You have a choice. Take your kids to the movies, or stay home.

Take your kids outside, risk seeing people kiss, or stay home.

Raise your kids in a bubble, with no outside influence, or trust that the things you teach them will stick, impact them, and make a difference.

Will they remain innocent? No, they're not meant to. They are meant to grow up, explore the world they live in and the people that are in it.

I have no desire to be Amish, it's a bad look for me.

The world is different, yes, but you still have choices. You're the parent. What you choose to bring into their lives, is what they'll know and learn.

That's my opinion.

You can't change the world but you can change your little corner of it.
The best you can hope for is that you have open communication with your kids so you can talk about the issues that concern both of you.
As a parent you have to let them know you understand that we are living in a very promiscuous society but that you expect them to behave with self respect and dignity toward themselves and others.

Be a great role model and as Alty said have confidence that the lessons you teach with a firm and loving hand will be the ones that impact them.

I believe being open and honest about any subject is key to insuring you raise thoughtful respectable kids.

Alty says we have choices but how do we have choices with the sex education and peer pressure that makes most kids think you have to have sex by 15 or you are not normal.

Even many adults say that traditional beliefs on sex are arcaic and antiquated.

I think the whole sexual system kids are indoctrinated into is a mess. They are basically being told to go have sex just make sure you use protection so you don't get pregnant but many of the girls WANT to be pregnant. Then the boys are having to pay support for years. Then we wonder how things have gotten to where they are today.
They don't stick together because the boys don't even respect the girls they are messing around with.

I have been listening about oxytocin and how it effects relationships when people jump from partner to partner. It is very interesting and proves a lot to me about why society is so messed up when it comes to being committed to one another nowadays.

Something was bad wrong.girls were married off before they even matured.I think that if we could bring people up from the 1800.s instead of us going backward they would never want to go back.people get this idea almost romantasize the 18th century,there was still murder,rape,drugs there's was just less media,and people

It isn't good for these babies nowadays that mommy brings home a new daddy every other month. That mommy and daddy can't stand being in the same room. Yet these girls at one time were so head over heels in love with a guy they only knew four months and now they have a baby by him, haven't seen him in 5 months and they can't stand him.
They either don't want him to sign the birth certificate because they hate him or they aren't sure he is the father. So they get out of the hospital and go down to the local welfare office and file for foodstamps, case assistance and they already have the medical. So then they go out find another guy and have another baby and break up when the kid is a year old so they can be with others...

By the time they are 21 they have been through at least 6 guys, have had 1 to 3 babies and the babies end up having at least a dozen daddies by the time mom hits 30

And as far as the movie theater goes,there's tons of reports of teens having sex in the theaters,unsuspecting parents drop off the kids for a movie and they're meeting up with boys in the back.The child is the answer,you can have a good kid that grows up around the worst circumstances and is still a good kid,and you can have a monster raised by the best of families grow up to still be a monster.all you can do is give a good example and watch them.

Very true but when the society ingrains it in them to make them feel abnormal because 'they are still a virgin at 16 then the kid often feels messed up. Loolk at all the kids that come here saying they want to have sex to get it over with so they don't feel akward when they have their first real boyfriend or girlfriend. Look at all the ones that come here saying What's wrong with me I am a 21 yr old virgin.

What's wrong with our society for not teaching kids it may be better for them to wait for someone special rather than its your body do what you want.

Your so right, what every happened to morals, my mother raised me with those now if you go out on a date and you don't try to kiss her she thinks you don't like her??
