You owe the money, you didnt pay, they sue you for the money. Every time they sent you a letter telling you that you were late and that you needed to pay, that was their attempt. That's why they always add that line at the bottom "This is an attempt to collect a debt and that any information obtained will be used for that purpose." (or something like that)
Anyway, time is up. If you have some money now, you can try to contact them and settle it before the court date... but you better be prepared to make them an offer they can't refuse.
