Garbage disposal in operative


I am trying to get an IN Sinkerator disposal to work . I have used the allen wrench and it turns 360 degrees and the reset button has been reset but it still just hums when turned on. Is this something that can be fixed or do I need to just replace it?

If you can turn motor with allen wrench and motor still hums, its shot. Replace.

I agree with the Widget Maker,
If the table turns free the motor windings are shorted or burned out. Here's a little tip about replacing the unit. If you purchase the same make and model you will be saved the hassle of reinstalling the drain. Simply keep the old drain in place and snap the new disposal in place. Good luck, Tom
