Lower back slip and pain after 4 epidurals
I have 7 children :D. Four children born in the hospital and three at home. For years I have had issues with my lower back "slipping" right at the injection site for the epidurals (I had an epi for each baby born in the hospital =4).
When my back slips it puts me in bed for 2-3 days and I can't move. It's frightening. I can feel when my back is vulnerable (no specific time or reason) and need to take it easy, but it affects my time at the gym and with my kids. Is there a link to lower back pain like this from an epidural even if after almost 8 years? If I go to a chiro can he/she x-ray to determine if scar tissue is a factor? I am trying to lose 30 extra pounds, but the pain in my back makes this a diffucult task.

    thanks,

    ~D

    Hello, bluffowhy
You have found a lady with a bad lower back from an epidural . I have had this condition since 1976. It seems to be getting more painful as time goes along. I was put on a anti depressant called Cipralex last year and maybe a side effect is causing my pain to get worse.. I am not sure. All I know is I cannot bend my left knee when I walk. I never had that before but I have always had numbness in my outer thigh areas on both legs. I have constant sciatic pain in my lower back and down my leg. It is worse after sitting too long or after sleeping. Turmeric is a good pain reliever.. try that natual remedy from the health store to see it it helps. I know my problem is from a botched epidural because I heard the doctor swear when he put the needle into my back when my second baby was being born. He put the needle in a second time and I was all rolled up in a ball. I don't know what you mean by your back slipping at the injection site. My pain at the injection site is constant.. I can touch my left lower back and it hurts real bad. The pain goes up my back and down into my buttock area and then down my left leg past the numb area to my knee.. Sometimes I feel pain in my foot too.

Type in "botched epidural" in the Google site and you will find a site called Revolution health.. there you will find lots of people like us complaining about a botched epidural.. The worst part for me is the fact that no doctor ever admits that epidurals cause this kind of trauma to our backs.. Most women who have back pain, usually look at me strangely because they never realized it was from an epidural they had years ago.. especially when the pain is always on the left side of the body. I have some symptoms on the right side but not as pronounced.

    Keep in touch OK.
