Why do waves appear more regular when they are far away from a storm center?
What kind of waves are you talking about?
Just any wave... its a question on my homework and I can't figure it out
I guess they are water waves and the storm is above the sea, some distances away.
I don't know exactly what answer is being looked for, but you may include that the depth of water is not constant at deep sea. You know that the depth of water affects the speed of waves, yes? Well, if there were irregularities, then the waves would all be messing up.
When they are further away, they approach land, and the sea floor becomes 'flatter', thus, the waves move at the same speed, and therefore the regularity.
There may be another answer though.
(I have not done waves for this year yet... maybe I'll do this later on)
