I bought a ceiling fan with a remote control, the fan works with switch but the remote control isn't working. I don't know if I have the wires hooked up correctly.

So you have a wall switch and a remote , right? For the remote to work the wall switch must be in the on position. Tell us the brand and model please. Does the remote have a small red light on it, does it light up when the button is pushed?
