    Unblocking "History"
    How do I erase the "History" of my Dell, Latitude D610 Laptop? I went to clear it out, but I cannot click the button to erase, even though it is there. I also try to change my "Home" page, but that is also blocked. I can see the buttons, but they do not get highlighted when I put the arrow over them and, therefore, I am not able to change the settings on my computer.

    they are 'grayed' out?

    To unlock your homepage, open notepad and copy/paste the following text into notepad and then save the file as:
    Unlock Homepag.vbs

    -Once you have the file saved as a .vbs file, click on the file and say OK - That should 'ungrey' your homepage options where you will be able to change it

    Set WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    p = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Int ernet Explorer\Control Panel\"
    p = p & "HomePage"

    Try this for the delete history being greyed out:

    -Go to Start> Run> (type in) gpedit.msc Hit Enter or click OK.

    -In Policy Editor, navigate to User Configuration> Administrative Templates>Windows Components> Internet Explorer> Delete Browsing History.

    -Right-click each of the settings> Properties> select "Not configured."

    -Exit Policy
    Editor.

    This is for HomePage

    You can check registry setting if you feel comfortable with going into registry -

    If uncomfortable with using Registry Editor, see if you can find someone who is comfortable and that you can Trust. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

    Quote:

    Start>run>regedit>H_KEY_CURRENT_USERS
    THEN go to
    Software>Policies>Microsoft>Internet Explorer>Control Pannel

    THEN in the right hand box
    You will see "HOME"
    Right click on "HOME" and choose the option to delete.
    After deleting press F5 (this will refresh your registry) close and restart your browser.
