I am currently on my period, but the blood does not smell like it normally does. I'm not really sure how to describe the smell other than potent(but not fishy, its quite unusual) it also is very painful to take out/put in a tampon right now, and it hurts during a bowel movement...
Is this something I should be concerned about?

Anything that is unusual should be checked out by a doctor ASAP. It could be that you have a vaginal infection, but that is just a guess, and you need to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis.
