    Low Water in Toilet Bowl
    Hi,
Sorry if this is a stupid question--I know next to nothing about toilets, and your patience is appreciated. My toilet was fine until my apartment maintenance had to shut off the water to repair a water main. When the water returned and I flushed my toilet, the water level in the bowl was substantially lower than it ever has been. Now when I flush the toilet, the water in the bowl actually rises to the previously normal level, and then the toilet flushes. Is there a way I can restore the normal water level in the toilet bowl? Thanks!

Ahhh The Cubs! I remember watching the Cubs play at Wrigley Field as a young boy.
Several things determine the water level in the bowl. It's possible that some dirt got in the main during repair and got sucked up in your ballcock when you flushed. Look inside the tank and make sure the little tube that runs between the ballcock and the white overflow tube is in place and runs water down the overflow when the tank's filling. Make sure the water level in the tank is 1/2" below the overflow tube when the tank's filled. And then let me know. Regards, Tom

That was it! The little tube was disconnected from the overflow tube, and now that it's reconnected, the water level in the bowl is back to normal. I see I was right in coming to a fellow Cubs fan for advice. Thanks a lot!

I was checking this site to see if I could figure out what was wrong with my toilet... who knew that the little tube would do so much! I just fixed my own toilet and thought that I would need a new one after talking to folks in a large home supply store! Thanks

This is why big box salesmen aren't out there doing plumbing. Glad you got your potty repaired. Tom.

    Hi there,
I'm a new home owner and puzzled with my toilet issue; it is the same as mentioned in the original question here.
I've checked the tube running from the ballcock to the overflow tube-it is in tact. But my water level in the tank is way below 1/2" of the overflow tube...more like 6". What shall I do?

If you'll tell me what type of ballcock we will give you instructions on how to raise the level in the tank. Cheers, Tom
