I'm remodeling my upstairs bathroom. I put in a new bathtub. There's a pea-trap under the floor but no air vent for the bathtub plumbing. The air vent is downstream about a foot past the pea-trap. There is a lot of gurgling. How do I put in a proper air vent for this?

I have no idea, I don't do plumbing, but I did ask for a moderator to move this over to the plumbing forum so it will get the proper attention. Once it is moved, you will be able to access it from the Home and Garden main page, then select the plumbing sub forum, or return to this forum and you will see the topic you posted with "Moved" nest to it. Just to be clear, there was a tub in this place before, right? If so, the vent would be inside the wall and maybe not that noticeable to you. Gurgling can be caused be a blocked vent, if this is a replacement I doubt that the vent is nonexistent. Vent are best rodded from the roof, can you get to your roof above this room safely?

Hoe old is your home? Back in the early part of the century they didn't run a roof vent on bathtubs and let then vent through the tub waste and overflow, Glub! Glub! Glub! I remember it well as a boy growing up.

If you have room in the tub dap-out you could install a AAV, (see image) just downstream from the trap. Sound like a plan? Regards, Tom
