solving equations using addition and multiplication
what are the answers to the following? (please show solution)

    1.) 2x+4+x=4+3x

    2.) -3/4+1/8=-2

    3.) y-1/3y-15=0

    4.) 3x/2+5x/3-13x/6-2/3=5/6

    5.) 7y-1=23-5y

    6.) 5-4a=a-13

    7.) 3m-7=-7-4m-m

    8.) 5r-2+3r=2r+6-4r

It wouldn't be right to simply give you the answers. You would learn nothing and I'd feel guilty for the rest of my life. :( :D

The first one is simply an equality. It's not an equation and has no "answer" (it's true for all values of x).
The second one is definitely not true. You miscopied something there. You have "-5/8 = 0" and the last time I checked, that was not true.

I'll solve the third one so you can see how it's done. The rest are done the same way.

    , Original problem

    , combine 1y-1/3y = 2/3y on the left side.

, subtract 15 from both sides of the equation

, multiply both sides by 3/2
