Had my son replace my motion lights. He installed 3- two light motion lights in the front, side and back of the house. The goal is to have the lights only turn on when someone comes around at night.

Unfortunately, one set does not turn off at night, the other only turns on when the light switch is on, and the other set does come on, but when it does it flashes off and on. What a mess. The instructions are clear as mud. Any ideas? Thanks

The switches should be on for motions to work... sounds to me like they are wired wrong, switches set up worng or installed wrong.
Maybe take them down and start all over, take them back and exchange them or hire someone who undertsnads them to instal them.

A few things to check. First of all, for motion detectors to work properly they need to be powered on at all times. There are usually switches on the detector to test the equipment, make sure the switch is in the proper position. As siberianair said, you may need to start over, checking all the wiring and switch positions.

We looked at the settings on the old lights and saw the "dusk to dawn" button was in the "off" position. We changed the settings on the new lights to "off." The lights are working properly. The instructions were not clear. Very frustrating! Thanks for your time. Happy 4th.
