CO roommate kills self & I'm not on the lease.
I was living in a room mate situation where everything was based on on verbal agreement. Now room mate has killed himself and apparently under his lease agreement that he had with the housing authority he was not ALLOWED to have a room mate, so apparently I have lived here for 18 months illegally!

I talked to the housing authority today, and they are like you need to get out now. Either leave the keys there or bring them to the office... They had no interest in my plight.

Now I am frantically looking for somewhere else to live, can they forcibly remove me at anything or do I actually have any legal recourse to have some more time?

    Many thanks for your answers

Assuming that you were unaware of the clause forbidding the tenant from having a roommate you should be entitled to a 30-day grace period to find a new home.

Unless they ( and remember this is a housing authority, the ones here in Atlanta have their own police force that works for them)

If they attempt to declare you a tresspassor, then that is a issue, that sadly you have to fight after they have thrown you out.

But normally they will have to evict you, that may give you about 2 weeks ( maybe)
I would move my stuff into a storage building, so you don't come home one day and it is gone. And try to stay but find a place quick.
