    Carburator Choke
    Hi there.
My car carburator choke (electricaly controlled I think) suddenly did not function and at closed position, so what we did is temporarily disengaged wiring and set the choke to open.
1.What would be the effect of this?
    2. Would fuel consumption increase with this set-up

    Thanks

Setting the choke to always open may cause hard starting especially in colder weather.

Thanks, aside from the hard starting issue, what are the other effect? Will fuel consumption increase? How about the engine performance?

If the choke was stuck shut or partially shut then opening it up will allow full air flow and a normal mixture. It should get better fuel economy. Naturally with more air more performance but not more than when the motor was running correctly.
