They are using both stray animals and peoples pets (one pet was found ,saved and returned to its owners) and they are waiting until the cover of darkness to dump these poor animals into the water then going to check to see if they caught a shark in the morning hours... it breaks my heart to see things like this

I saw it on the news a while ago... horrible.

They saved one of the dogs but he had a hook through the cartilage of his nose, luckily they removed it OK and he was rehomed.

I guess they have never heard of adoption in those countries... their excuse was that there were too many stray dogs...
    Here's an idea..

    1) ADOPT

    2) SPAY AND NEUTER

I actually felt sick when I watched that news report.

At least they managed to save that one... I couldn't believe their excuse... I totally agree with you about what they could be doing.. adopt, spay and neuter. I'm pretty sure they have spca's but I'm going to Google just to find out for sure..

After googling for 20 minutes.. Yes it took me that long to find some SPCA'a in france this is what I came up with. One site is in french so I don't know 100 percent what it says lol

Présentation société protectrice animaux - SPA
Animal rescue centres in France: This French Life

For having sanctuaries, spcas and animal protection orginizations you would think that they would attempt to put a stop to what's going on but it doesn't seem like they are

This sickens me. How someone could ever do that and feel no remorse is beyond me.

I wish the Sea Shepherds from the show Whale Wars would go pay those fisherman a visit.

OMG! I should not have looked. I just opened up one picture to see the dog with the fish hook through it's snout. I'm absolutely appalled. That poor dog. It makes me cry.

I guess I should have put a warning up that the photo is painful to look at. It made me feel sick when I first looked at it too

I didn't look! I love animals way too much. I thought all countries had some form of animal cops. I guess not. It makes me realize how spoiled we are in the USA. All we have to do to right a wrong is send lots of stuff to our government and it gets at least looked at and sometimes action is taken right away. Sorry ahead of time I am going to say something that is not popular. God said we were to be good stewards of the animals here on earth. I take that to mean we are to take care of them as if we owned them. So France needs to do something to put a stop to this shameful practice.

AuntSwee... I do agree with you in some ways though I don't technically believe in God. I do believe in a form of mother nature and do believe higher powers are at work in the world even if it is just humankind that is doing the work. I do agree and feel that we are all caretakers for ALL of the animals in the world and that it reflects badly on us as people when care is not taken... Animals shouldn't have to suffer no matter if they are wild or domesticated. No one. No human or animal should be subjected to something as horrible as this

I work in animal rescue and received both what was posted here and this site by e-mail.

I don't know what the truth is.
