    Fridge keeps NOT working
Its an older fridge. By 'hotpoint'
It's a small fridge with a freezer on top. (looks exactly like this... http://pages.infinit.net/jackiem/for%20sale/fridge.jpg)

About once a week, sometimes every other week, the fridge stops cooling. And everythign spoils :( costs me a lot of money.

The freezer continues to work. Its one of those fridges that the freezer turns on, and slowly leaks the cold air into the fridge.

I live in an apartment complex and I have told the office about it EACH time it happens (about 5 times so far) and all the matenence guy says is 'its freezing over, defrost it and then turn it back on.

This DOES fix it. But it just simply happens AGAIN.

Then he told me to turn the temp down. So I did. Its on 1 right now. It goes from 1-9 with 9 as the coldest. My food doesn't spoil on 1, but it sure doenst stay as cold as I would like (I like ICE COLD milk, not COOL milk)

Even after turning the temp to 1, it just froze over AGAIN last night! I am getting very tired of my food spoiling simply because the matenence people don't know what thy are doing...

    Sorry to rant a bit...

Do any of you know any other reasons this could be happening? Or should I simply demand a new fridge from the apartment complex?

    Perito

The "cold" comes from the freezer section. You probably have a stuck "damper" that controls the amount of cool air that gets into the refrigerator section. Since it's freezing over, you probably have a faulty defrost timer (a timer that controls the automatic defrost). Have the maintenance guy replace it (and tell him to get off his duff until he does).

Thanks perito, I will tell them to try replacing the defrost timer.

Aparently the fan was busted because he said I was over filling the freezer... so... they just replaced the fridge and I have a new working one now.
