My partner has trouble opening his bowels.
Hi my partner has trouble opening his bowels and has been going on for 4 days and says its like his bowel tubes are squeezing his stools as his stools come out long and thin. He has to really strain to go and that's with taking laxatives, he is worrying himself silly as his grandad had to wear a bag. I have told him its probably just consitpation but nothing I say will calm him, he also never goes to the doctors.
    Any advice would be great.
    Thank you

Of course the advice is going to be to see a Physician. This could be one of many things and no one here can really diagnose from the description you have given.

If there is cancer in his family and that is/was the reason for the bag then he HAS to get a Physician's opinion!

Hi thank you for the reply, his mum has said that his grandad couldn't control when he opened his bowels whereas my partner has the opposite problem. I shall try and drag him to the doctors. Thank you.

I had to smile - "drag him to the doctors" probably sums it all up!

Good luck and let us know he's okay.

It could simply be irritable bowl or a spastic colon. But the only way to know for sure is to go to a GI doc.
